The movie was released on October 5, 2018. It was directed by George Tillman, Jr., (Soul Food, Barbershop, This is Us, Luke Cage) and produced by State Street Productions, Temple Hill Productions, and Fox 2000.     Based on The New York Times #1 best-selling novel by Angie Thomas, and directed by Sanaa Lathan, Paramount’s ON THE COME UP takes Bri’s story to the silver screen. Released September 23, 2022 in the United States after a successful launch at the Toronto International Film Festival, Paramount Pictures President of Domestic Distribution Chris Aronson said: “We’re thrilled to share this incredible adaptation of Angie Thomas’s moving novel with audiences everywhere, across multiple platforms.”
